Quick Easy Appetizers

Pan-fried Cheese Sandwiches

quick easy appetizers

These quick easy appetizers are yummy pan-fried cheese sandwiches that you can quickly and easily. They are intended to be served hot so you can not really prepare them completely before you serve them.

However, you can definitely complete most of the steps a couple of hours before you serve these hot, easy party appetizers. For example, you can assemble the sandwiches before your guests arrive. Once you are ready, you quickly dust the sandwiches with flour and egg, after which you will fry them.

I think this appetizer recipe is best used when you have a few friends to chill out with, while they help you out in the kitchen. This appetizer recipe is also great as a snack for your family.

This recipes asks for white bread which I have kept in the ingredients below; however, I do not eat white bread so I use sprouted whole grain bread. It still makes it yummy!

Try these fun sandwiches at home as a snack!

Ingredients

20 thick slices white bread
2-3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
12 slices Cheddar
Oil, for shallow frying
Plain flour, for dusting
3 eggs, lightly beaten
Watercress, to garnish

Instructions

1. Remove the crusts from the bread.

2. Spread the bread with mustard, place a slice of cheese on top, then finish with another bread slice.

3. Heat a little oil in a frying pan. Dust the sandwiches lightly with flour and dip quickly into the beaten egg.

4. Cook the sandwiches on both sides until golden; drain on paper towels.

5. Cut into quarters and garnish with watercress.

6. Serve hot.
